Providing On-Site Technical Support and Managed Technology Services.
Much of our service area is affected by PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff this week. We wanted to take this opportunity to inform everyone of a possible threat that may target local recharging stations. Juice Jacking is a type of cyber attack involving a charging port that doubles as a data connection, typically over USB. This often involves either installing malware or surreptitiously copying sensitive data from a smart phone, tablet, or other computer device. This could be found in the form of corrupted charging cables left out for convenience or in public charging kiosks. We highly recommend using the power block and charging cable that came with your device, and don’t use any charging cable that is left out for you. Always plug your own power block into a power strip as these do not allow data to pass. Please let us know if you have any questions!
