Jack Powell Sr. began his automotive career in 1933 as the owner of Jack Powell Motors as a Dodge dealer in Dearborn, Michigan. After 19 years, the Powell family moved to California where, in 1958, Jack Sr. opened Jack Powell DeSoto-Plymouth at 4th and Escondido Boulevard in Escondido. We’re proud to serve drivers from Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos, Valley Center, and more. 1971 was the year Jack Powell Jr. joined the family business. A graduate of the University of Southern California and Chrysler Dealer Candidate School, Jack gradually mastered his craft and began holding entry-level positions in all departments. In 1976 Major Powell fully retired, Jack Jr. bought the company from his father and Jack Powell Chrysler-Plymouth survived the Arab oil embargo. In 1982, Jack had an opportunity to purchase a competing Dodge dealership.
