In 1964, after eleven years at the Ford Motor Company in Los Angeles, Jack Gosch wanted to become a car salesman. Hemet’s dealership was up for sale and he founded the Jack Gosch Ford Company in 1964, just three months after the introduction of the Ford Mustang. With only 12 employees, the concession was located in a more minor part of Loomis Turkey’s larger hatchery building in downtown Hemet.
Jack Gosch Ford, who has been booming since inception, grew up with the Valley. Jack liked the small-town atmosphere and knew many customers who walked into the store. As the business grew, Jack opened a new Ford dealership on the corner of Florida and Dartmouth in 1970. Gosch opened Toyota next door in 1972. His sons Eric and Marc joined the company in the early 1980s.
Jacek was instrumental in the activities of local groups and associations. In 1969 he opened Hemet’s first fast food franchise, Taco Bell. He was also the founder of Banque d’Hemet in 1974 which continues to thrive as a local bank.
